Pirates of the Baltic Sea (PoBS) is an international student cruise from Helsinki to Stockholm and back with two nights on board and a day to explore Sweden's capital. PoBS is organised each semester, and the upcoming one of spring 2025 is already the 25th voyage of the pirate ship!
PoBS is organised by ESN Finland and its National Events Committee, and each edition is made reality by close to 100 ESNers.
Student cruises are a significant part of Finnish student culture, and since 2011, ESN Finland has proudly contributed to this tradition through the legendary PoBS. Today, PoBS attracts over 2000 international students annually, and is organised in collaboration with the 15 local ESN sections across Finland, as well as the Baltic countries. Recently the event has also welcomed students from Poland, Denmark, and Norway!
PoBS offers something for everyone - whether you’re a party enthusiast or seeking a relaxing getaway on the Baltic Sea with a stop in beautiful Stockholm. From pub crawls and club parties to spa time and buffet dinners, PoBS isn’t just a cruise - it’s a full-blown festival on the sea!
The 24th edition, held during the autumn semester of 2024, featured a packed program with activities spanning both nights of the cruise. Some of the activities included: PoBS Crawl, Sitz at Sea, Dance and Zumba Classes, MMA Workshops, Movie Nights, Pirate Quiz, 50 Shades of Bingo, Pirate Pong, and much more!
The cherry on top last edition was legendary Darude's live performance on the Starlight stage along the White T-Shirt Party.
